Sega Stopping Mature Wii Games

Sega has announced that they are unlikely to publish any more Mature rated games for the Nintendo Wii.

This comes after relatively weak sales from MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill, as well as EA's Dead Space.

Not a horribly shocking revelation, I suppose. The Wii audience is younger than the PS3 or Xbox 360 audience, so I wouldn't expect impressive sales of "M" rated games on the Wii. Read the full story on gamasutra below:

Monster Hunter 3 for Wi

After a recent Nintendo press conference, Capcom announced that their upcoming Monster Hunter 3 will be a Wii exclusive title.

Oddly, Monster Hunter 3 was initially a PS3 exclusive title but high development costs on the PS3 were a deciding factor to switch platforms. The conference also saw the announcement of several Nintendo first party titles.

Monster Hunter is a major franchise in Japan with both PSP games in the series having sold over a million copies. However, the series has had limited success in North America.

Wii Fit... Funny Video

Prepare for a brief rant... or just go down to the video... it's hilarious!

I'm not going to lie, I'm still a critic of the Wii and have yet to give in to all of the hype. Yeah, I occasionally play Wii, and there are a few titles that I've enjoyed quite a bit such as Big Brain Acadmy. Still, even the games that I've enjoyed have all had limited appeal and my Wii goes largely unplayed while I play 'real' games on my Xbox 360, like Blue Dragon and BioShock. I guess I'm still not convinced that it's anything more than a casual game system and a platform for party games. It's great that the system is attracting so much attention, but I'm a hardcore gamer, not a casual gamer. Party games are cool... but for 10 minutes. Wii Play, one of the system's best sellers, is pretty much a pile of crap. Honestly, Wii Sports is awesome considering it's free, but it still has limited appeal and isn't deep enough to hold the interest of a real gamer, who expects some level of depth in a game.

Anyway, my pessimistic views on the Wii probably made this even funnier for me. I almost fell out of my chair laughing. Enjoy!

Pokemon Sells Big

NintendoNintendo has announced that their recent Pokemon titles have fueled the success of the Wii and DS!

Pokemon games are almost always among the best selling games around. Partially boosted by Pokemon sales, the Nintendo DS and Wii were again the two best-selling videogame systems in the United States in July. According to the independent NPD Group, through July Pokemon Diamond is the best-selling video game of the year on any system, while Pokemon Pearl ranks No. 3. Wow, two of the top three best sellers are Pokemon!?

Young and old gamers alike are enjoying Pokemon, and the next-gen systems have opened the door to countless new Pokemon fans.

More Puzzle Quest!

PQD3 Publisher of America has announced that Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, will be heading to the PS2, Wii, Mobile Phones and PC! It seems gamers just can't get enough of Puzzle Quest.

All of these versions will be appearing this fall and the mobile version will be released in early 2008. This will open the door to gamers who have yet to experience the exciting hybrid Puzzle/RPG gameplay to finally get a taste. Puzzle Quest was the #1 selling Puzzle Game on the Nintendo DS in 2007, and was earlier confirmed to be headed to the Xbox 360 through the Xbox Live Arcade.

The PC and Mobile rights to the game have been awarded to THQ for publishing.

Personally, I'm the most hyped about the PC version, because I thought the early PC demo that I played was superior to the DS version. Either way, Puzzle Quest is loads of fun, so be sure to pick up one of these versions if you haven't played it yet!

Super Paper Mario Now Available!

Mario The first Mario title to hit the Wii, Super Paper Mario, is now available in stores!

In Super Paper Mario, players will solve puzzles, perform new actions, learn fresh new abilities, and beat bosses using the innovation of the Wii remote. The game is a perfect blend of platforming and RPG elements that should be enough to satisfy any gamer.

Like usual, Princess Peach has been kidnapped... but this time Bowser has been kidnapped too! It's your job to lead Mario in this lighhearted adventure to once again save the Mushroom Kingdom!
So far Super Paper Mario is getting great reviews, so if you've got a Wii, this is a title you'll want to be picking up.

3 New Virtual Console Titles

Wii! Nintendo has announced three new classic games for the Wii Shop Channel.

The first two titles are Ninja Turtles and Starfox, so they aren't really relevant to the coverage here. However, the third title is Dragon's Curse, a side-scrolling action role-playing game.

After defeating the Mecha Dragon in the depths of the Dragon Castle, the wounded beast casts a spell on the hero, turning him into an ugly creature. To return to human form, you must seek out the Salamander Cross, which can break your curse and return you to human form! As you progress and defeat bosses, you'll be transformed into other creatures, allowing you to take advantage of their distinct abilities.
