Just a few quick virtual world deals I've noticed lately...

If you grab a Habbo Hotel card at GameStop by December 13th @ 11:59pm PT, you'll get a free rare Arcade Cabinet furni. I bought my $10 card (worth 50 coins) last weekend and have already received my reward. As long as I'm talking about Habbo, make sure to log-in and check out the awesome improvements made to pets! Your pet can now earn experience and badges.

Sony Online Entertainment is also holding a 25% more station cash promotion for station cash cards sold at participating retailers. Free Realms, EverQuest and EverQuest II cards must be redeemed this week by November 29th to receive the bonus Station Cash reward. I picked up my Free Realms card at Walmart today.

Legends of Norrath Standalone

Since the announcement fo the Online EverQuest CCG, Legends of Norrath, there has been a lot of hype for the game.

The game will be integrated into EverQuest and EverQuest II, and steeped in EverQuest lore and allow players to win cards while playing the MMO and trade cards in for special items.

The whole concept of the card game sounds really interesting, but one of my initial fears was that Integrating it directly into EverQuest would limit their player base. However, this fear has been resolved as Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the game will also be availible through a standalone client where you can play directly with players in EverQuest or EverQuest II.

EverQuest Online CCG Announced

Sony Online Entertainment has just unveiled Legends of Norrath: Oathbound, a new Online CCG that takes place in the EverQuest universe.

Oathbound will be built in to both EverQuest and EverQuest 2 and will allow players from one game to play against those from the other. Three sets are currently planned, with this first set containing 375 cards with original art.

All current EverQuest and EverQuest 2 players will be hyped to hear that they'll initially receive a free starter deck of cards, and additional packs can be purchased with real-world cash if you want more. You can also win packs as loot off boss mobs in both EQ games. Best of all, some of the cards will be loot that can be redeemed for in-game items for your characters.

Sony Online Entertainment is planning full support for the CCG, promising tournaments, deck-building and the ability for players to trade cards.

I'm not a current EQ player, but I do love CCGs. I personally think this sounds like a really neat concept and wish them the best of luck with it! I like how they're integrating it with the MMORPG, but I wonder if that will limit their player base?
